The best? - The panoramic view!
Are you looking for the best view of the land of 1000 mountains, the Sauerland?
Welcome to the Sauerlandfenster !
High up on the "roof" of the Sauerland, the small town of Obermarsberg - discovered by Charlemagne in the 12th century as his country residence and today rightly regarded as an "insider tip" by connoisseurs - you can look down from all three apartments of the Sauerland window - the birch, spruce and beech apartments - into the valley to the river Diemel and into the vastness over the Sauerland mountains: to the Diemelsee and the ski paradises Willingen and Winterberg.

Whether in spring, summer, autumn or winter: Nowhere else do you feel so close to the seasons as when you look out of the living rooms of the three holiday apartments in the Sauerland window. Come by and share the motto with us:
"So close to nature - in harmony with nature".
Whether at the cosy pellet stove (with open flame) or the three high seats outside: The power of nature and the silence of the treetops are omnipresent and balm for your soul...
This motif also shapes the design of the Sauerland window in the interior. The furniture was made of typical Sauerland materials: Wood, slate, stone and glass.
The wood used for the furniture - be it the tables and shelves in the living and dining areas or the solid beds made by carpenters in the region themselves - comes from the surrounding forests with the typical wood species: birch, spruce and beech.

The holiday apartments: birch, spruce and oak
The philosophy of the Sauerlandfenster: "So close to nature - in harmony with nature" is not only reflected in the characteristic building material wood - in the birch apartment mainly birch and the spruce and beech apartments mainly the wood of the fir trees and beech forests of the surrounding forests were used, but also the other building materials and furnishings.
The typical slate stone of the Sauerland region inspired us to install the bathrooms with rain showers. The lamps and light installations were also made by hand from the clay soil of the fields of the Diemel valley, the indoor fountains from crystals and ores of the nearby Kilianstollen mine were built by local artists.
The numerous utensils of horse studs from surrounding farmsteads and stables remind us of the special importance of the horses for the Sauerland. Paul Lefarth, the author of the "Sauerlandbuch" - born in the Sauerland and father of the owner of the Sauerland window - reports about this in detail and lovingly in his illustrated book (available for viewing in the apartments).
The Sauerlandfenster feels committed to the principle of sustainability both inside and out as a unit with nature. The water in all three apartments is heated by cast-iron pellet stoves. This creates a comfortable living atmosphere and protects the CO2 balance. The room climate in the rooms is individually adjustable, in the bedrooms the original trunks and branches of the birches, spruces and beeches create the optimal sleeping climate. You will experience it: apart from eagles, buzzards and owls you will hear nothing but silence up here...
The Apartment "Birch"
It is the highest apartment of the Sauerland window. It resembles an eagle's nest with its view from the living room into the distance. From the living room you reach the "Höhenwegbalkon" with its original massive wooden bench - a "Hochsitz", from where you can spy with a binocular and some luck the deer and stags, but also eagles and other birds of prey.

The apartment "Spruce"
The apartment Fichte is located on the ground floor, due to the maximum hillside location, it also has a unique view into the vastness of the Sauerland. From the living room one looks through the floor-deep panorama window, from which one - as also from the kitchen - on the large "panorama high seat" with original massive seat reaches - into the country of the 1000 mountains....
